What is World of the Living Dead?

WotLD is a game you play in your internet browser. No downloads or plug-ins are needed. Actions you take in the game are persistent so that progress and survival lasts over several sessions. In other words, WotLD is a persistent browser-based game (PBBG) as defined at http://www.pbbg.org/

How many people can play?

Any number of people can simultaneously play WotLD from their browsers and interact in the same vast environment.

Can players co-operate or attack each other?

The game will allow you to control a group of survivors as they struggle to stay alive in a world where even the living are a threat. Other players may choose to raid your group for resources or even decide to take over your territory. You can form factions with friendly players to improve your chances of survival.

How you run your group or faction is up to you. You may choose to extend your territory to include a number of safehouses or even clear an area of zombies. Or you might prefer to roam and raid other players for resources. You can even negotiate with other factions to trade resources or define territories.

A powerful faction can exert control over an entire area, warning other players to keep clear of their territory. But this might attract the attention of larger groups looking for rich pickings...

How you deal with the growing horde of the living dead is up to you. Hide out and keep your distance from other players or find safety in a faction. All bets are off - the dead walk the earth.
